Teague Tabbed Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE – For the second straight year on Dec. 27, UNC Asheville's MaCio Teague has been selected the Big South Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
The league office made the official announcement on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017. One year earlier on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, Teague also garnered league Player of the Week honors.
In total, Teague has now received honors from the league six times. In addition to his now two Dec. 27 Big South Player of the Week honors, Teague was also chosen Big South Freshman of the Week four times last season (Nov. 21, Jan. 2, Jan. 9 and Feb. 13).
A sophomore guard, Teague averaged 21.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game last week for the Bulldogs.
Teague shot 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field overall in 35.0 minutes per game. He was 13-of-16 (81.3 percent) from the free throw line in the two games.
In UNC Asheville's impressive come-from-behind road win at UNCG on Tuesday, Dec. 19, Teague picked up his third career double-double with 25 points and 11 boards. He was 6-of-12 (50 percent) from the field overall and he was 11-of-13 (84.6 percent) from the charity stripe.
Teague closed out last week by finishing his efforts with 18 points and five rebounds in UNC Asheville's road loss at Saint Mary's on Friday, Dec. 22. He was 7-of-11 (63.6 percent) from the field in the game.
On the year, the Cincinnati, Ohio native is averaging a team-best 15.0 points and 3.2 assists per game to go along with 5.0 rebounds per game.
Teague and UNC Asheville men's basketball will next open Big South Conference play by hosting Campbell at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30.
The game will be televised locally by WMYA-TV, My 40 and also streamed live by the Big South Network. The game will also be available on the radio on 570 WWNC-Asheville/1440 WMXF-Waynesville.
