ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Nick McDevitt recently announced the signings of Anthony Crump and Coty Jude.

Crump joins the UNC Asheville men's basketball program out of Plymouth High School in Inkster, Mich.

The team captain and team Most Valuable Player for Plymouth High School, Crump has been named one of the top-25 players in the state of Michigan. He averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists last year.

A 6-foot-7 guard, Crump plays his AAU basketball with Greenwood Elite.

Jude joins the UNC Asheville men's basketball program after spending most of his prep career at Tolsia High School in Fort Gay, W.Va. He is spending his final prep season this year at Believe Sports Academy in Athens, Tenn.

The 2017 Tolsia High School Athlete of the Year, Jude averaged 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists last season. The 6-foot-7 forward set the Tolsia single-game scoring record last year with 54 points.

The duo joins a UNC Asheville men's basketball program that was picked to win the Big South Conference at the annual Media Day on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Renaissance Suites Hotel.

UNC Asheville's choice as preseason No. 1 marked the first time since the 2011-12 preseason poll that the Bulldogs have been tabbed to finish first. The Bulldogs have now been picked five times (1989-90, 1997-98, 2002-03, 2011-12 and 2017-18) to win the league in the official preseason poll.

UNC Asheville men's basketball had another banner year last year as the Bulldogs picked up their sixth Big South Conference regular season title in the 2016-17 season (1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2011-12 and 2016-17). McDevitt has been a part of five of the six Big South Conference regular season crowns either as a player, assistant coach or head coach (1997-98, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2011-12 and 2016-17).

UNC Asheville started the 2017-18 season having collected back-to-back 20-win seasons and having made two straight postseason appearances with the Bulldogs playing in the 2016 NCAA Tournament and the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

The 2016-17 Bulldogs claimed a share of the Big South regular season championship and earned the second-most wins in program history in a season with 23. Asheville reached 20 wins faster than any other team in program history in 27 games.
