ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team will start the 2017-18 season in the same place they ended the season last year in the CollegeInsider.com Men's Basketball Mid-Major Top-25 at No. 24.

The CollegeInsider.com Preseason Men's Basketball Mid-Major Top-25 poll was released the evening of Monday, Oct. 30, 2017.

UNC Asheville is the only Big South Conference team ranked in the preseason top-25.

The Bulldogs were ranked in the CollegeInsider.com Men's Basketball Mid-Major Top-25 for five straight polls to close out the 2016-17 season. UNC Asheville originally entered the poll at No. 24 on Feb. 13, 2017. Asheville was ranked as high as 19th last season before ending the year at No. 24.

The UNC Asheville men's basketball team has been picked to win the Big South Conference it was announced at the annual Media Day on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Renaissance Suites Hotel.

UNC Asheville's choice as preseason No. 1 marks the first time since the 2011-12 preseason poll that the Bulldogs have been tabbed to finish first. The Bulldogs have now been picked five times (1989-90, 1997-98, 2002-03, 2011-12 and 2017-18) to win the league in the official preseason poll.

UNC Asheville men's basketball had another banner year last year as the Bulldogs picked up their sixth Big South Conference regular season title in the 2016-17 season (1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2011-12 and 2016-17). McDevitt has been a part of five of the six Big South Conference regular-season crowns either as a player, assistant coach or head coach (1997-98, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2011-12 and 2016-17).

UNC Asheville will start the 2017-18 season having collected back-to-back 20-win seasons and having made two straight postseason appearances with the Bulldogs playing in the 2016 NCAA Tournament and the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Tournament. 

The 2016-17 Bulldogs claimed a share of the Big South regular season championship and earned the second-most wins in program history in a season with 23. Asheville reached 20 wins faster than any other team in program history in 27 games. 

The 2017-18 UNC Asheville men's and women's basketball season tickets are officially on sale.

Season tickets are only $250 for adult reserved seats with youth season tickets in reserved seats just $75. General admission adult season tickets are only $125 with youth season tickets in general admission also just $75.

New this year, fans can also receive one free youth season ticket with the purchase of one adult season ticket.

In addition, UNC Asheville All-Sport Passes are still available. The All-Sport Pass gives fans the chance to attend Bulldog men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball and baseball for one low price.

The All-Sport reserved seat pass for basketball is just $300 for adults with the price $150 for youth. The general admission All-Sport pass is just $175 for adults and $125 for youth.

UNC Asheville faculty, staff and alumni receive an additional 10 percent off their season ticket and All-Sport purchases.
