BIG SOUTH SATURDAY SHOWDOWN: UNC Asheville welcomes Campbell to Kimmel Arena for a 4:30 p.m. Big South Conference game on Saturday, Jan. 21. The game is part of a doubleheader at Kimmel Arena with the Asheville women set to take on Liberty at 2 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN3 and available on the WatchESPN App.
NATIONALLY-KNOWN: Saturday's game against Campbell marks the second straight game the Bulldogs will be featured on an ESPN broadcast. This past Thursday the Bulldogs were featured in their Big South Conference rivalry showdown against Winthrop on ESPNU.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Bulldogs are 7-1 on the year at home. The Asheville men protected home court very efficiently last season as well, going 11-3 at home. UNC Asheville is 62-16 at Kimmel Arena all-time.
ABOUT CAMPBELL: The Camels are 10-9 overall and 3-4 in Big South Conference play. Campbell is led by sophomore sensation Chris Clemons, who reached the 1,000 point plateau in only his 49th game this past week. Clemons is averaging 23.5 points per game.
CAREER DAY: After scoring 27 points in UNC Asheville's narrow loss to Winthrop, Ahmad Thomas has now scored 27 points four times in his Bulldog career. He has scored 27 in two of the last three games as he also had 27 points in Asheville's 89-68 win over Longwood at Kimmel Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017.
SERIES: UNC Asheville owns a 21-19 all-time series advantage over Campbell with the Bulldogs having won eight straight in the series. The Bulldogs are the only team the Camels have not defeated since rejoining the Big South Conference in the 2011-12 season.
STREAKING: UNC Asheville has put together two five-game winning streaks over the course of the 2016-17 season.
DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: Twice during the second half the Bulldogs held Charleston Southern without a field goal for well over four minutes. During the closing minutes of the second half, Asheville's defense held the Buccaneers to 0-of-9 shooting during an almost five-minute stretch.
PERFECT: MaCio Teague led all Bulldogs in the win over Charleston Southern with 18 points, but he did it the hard way by scoring 12 of his 18 points from the free throw line where he was a perfect 12-of-12. In Asheville's two wins last week, Teague was a perfect 18-of-18 from the charity stripe.
STRONG ON THE OFFENSIVE GLASS: In UNC Asheville's win at Charleston Southern, Alec Wnuk ended his day with six overall rebounds. He was particularly strong on the offensive glass though where he collected five of his six boards.
IT'S A STEAL: The UNC Asheville men's basketball team boasts one of the top defenses in the entire country with the Bulldogs fifth in the country in total steals (193). The Bulldogs are also eighth in the country in steals per game (9.65).

In Asheville's overtime win over Gardner-Webb on Dec. 31, 2016, Teague scored 25 points, while David Robertson finished with 23 points. Prior to the Gardner-Webb game the last time two Bulldogs had scored over 20 or more in the same game came against Longwood on Jan. 30, 2016, with Thomas scoring 21 and Dwayne Sutton finishing his efforts with 20 points in the Bulldogs' 88-74 win over the Lancers.

FIRST OF THE YEAR: Asheville's loss to Winthrop marked the first Bulldogs' loss of the year when they were leading at halftime. They had entered the matchup with Winthrop 10-0 on the year when leading at halftime. The Bulldogs held a 41-36 lead over the Eagles at intermission.
DISHING IT OUT: Kevin Vannatta ended Asheville's win over Winthrop with six assists. During league play so far, Vannatta has dished out six assists in four of the seven games.
AMONG THE BEST: Ahmad Thomas is currently fourth in the country in total steals with 60. He is sixth in the country in steals per game with 3.00 steals per outing.
TEAGUE SELECTED BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK (JAN. 2): The league office announced on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, that UNC Asheville freshman guard MaCio Teague had been selected as the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week. In Asheville's overtime loss at Radford on Thursday, Dec. 29, Teague finished with 14 points, five rebounds, one block and one assist. He was 6-of-12 from the field overall. Teague finished Asheville's thrilling overtime win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday, Dec. 31, at Kimmel Arena with 25 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal. Teague was 8-of-12 overall from the field, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. In the two games the freshman guard out of Cincinnati, Ohio averaged 19.5 points and four rebounds per game. The Walnut Hills High School product shot 14-for-24 (58.3 percent) from the field overall and 6-of-9 (66.6 percent) from beyond the arc in the two games.
THOMAS THE CONSISTENT ENGINE: Ahmad Thomas has scored in double figures every game this season. Thomas has also recorded multiple rebounds and picked up at least a steal in each Bulldog game.
