Teague Selected Big South Conference Freshman of the Week

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The league office announced on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, that UNC Asheville freshman guard MaCio Teague has been selected as the Come Ready Nutrition Big South Conference Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week.

The honor marks the second consecutive week that Teague has received accolades from the league office as on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, Teague was tabbed as the Big South Conference Player of the Week. In total, Teague has received three weekly honors from the league office as he was named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week on Nov. 21, 2016.
 
In Asheville's overtime loss at Radford on Thursday, Dec. 29, Teague finished with 14 points, five rebounds, one block and one assist. He was 6-of-12 from the field overall.

Teague finished Asheville's thrilling overtime win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday, Dec. 31, at Kimmel Arena with 25 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal. Teague was 8-of-12 overall from the field, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.

In total last week, the freshman guard out of Cincinnati, Ohio averaged 19.5 points, four rebounds and two assists per game.

The Walnut Hills High School product shot 14-for-24 (58.3 percent) from the field overall and 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) from beyond the arc in the two games.

Teague and UNC Asheville (9-6, 1-1 Big South Conference) will next continue their first week of Big South Conference play by traveling to Lynchburg, Va. to face off against Liberty (7-8, 2-0 Big South Conference) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at the Vines Center.
