LYNCHBURG, Va.– The UNC Asheville men's tennis team fell short against No. 2 seeded Presbyterian 4-1, in the Big South Conference Championship Semifinals.

 

NOTABLES

-The Bluehose came out strong, winning matches in flights one and three to take the doubles point and start with an early 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs. PC's Brandon Millis and Alexander Lykou took the match on court one (6-4), and the pair of Joel Roberts and Diego Manzanas produced a 6-3 victory in flight three for PC to seal the point and move the match to singles play.

 

-Presbyterian had Asheville on the ropes early with a (6-4, 6-2) victory in flight five to go up 2-0 in the Semifinal match.

 

-Asheville's Henry Patten came back with a two set (6-2, 6-4) win in flight two to provide a spark for the Bulldogs. Patten finished the season on an eleven-match win-streak in singles play.

 

-PC didn't let up, posting another (7-6, 6-2) win in flight four to go up 3-1 on the Bulldogs.

 

-Three Bulldog seniors, Alex Croker, Thomas Orestis-Panoulas and Daniel Kripak remained in play for Asheville. Panoulas and Croker each came back from losses in their first sets to win their second sets. All three Bulldogs took their matches to three sets.

 

-Presbyterian took the match in flight six (4-6, 6-1,6-2) to clinch the match 4-1 and advance to the Championship match on Saturday.
