DURHAM, N.C. – Emily McNall improved to 4-1 overall in top flight singles action, leading the UNC Asheville women's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over North Carolina Central on Saturday afternoon at the NCCU Tennis Courts.
Asheville improves to 12-3 overall for the year, while North Carolina Central falls to 4-11 this season.
The Bulldogs started strong winning the doubles point thanks to wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Christine Boissevain and Lauren Brooker notched a 6-4 victory on court two, improving to 12-2 on the year as a team. Hunter Hall and Amryn Soldier picked up the second doubles win with a 6-3 victory at the third flight. Hall and Soldier are now 6-2 on the year.
McNall's 6-2, 6-1 at the top flight highlighted singles play for the Blue & White. McNall is 4-1 at the top flight and 10-2 overall this season. In addition to McNall's victory, Asheville won thre of the remaining five singles matches. Ericka Rivero added a come-from-behind 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2, while Amalie Davidsen and Hall earned straight-set victories on court five and six. Davidsen is now 12-3 overall in singles play.
North Carolina Central picked up victories at the third and fourth flight, where Ekaterina Nekrasova defeated Soldier, 6-4, 6-2 and Mia Ramic downed Boissevain, 6-3, 6-2.
Asheville returns to action on Monday, March 30 when it hosts Charleston Southern at 2:00 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club.
