Women's Tennis Overcome by Wofford Rally

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback on Thursday afternoon when they faced Wofford College at Reeves Tennis Center.
The loss drops Asheville to 11-3 on the year, while Wofford improves to 8-7 overall.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead by taking the doubles point. Ericka Rivero and Emily McNall secured a 6-2 win at the top flight, while Christine Boissevain and Lauren Brooker picked up a 6-4 decision at No. 2. On court three, Caroline Sherrer and Hunter Hall were defeated 6-3.
Emily McNall gave the Blue & White a 2-0 lead following her 7-5, 6-3 victory at the top flight. McNall is now 9-2 overall on the season in singles play. The Terriers took control from that point, winning each of the remaining five singles matches.
Amalie Davidsen was defeated 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, followed by Bossievain getting knocked off at No. 3 (7-6, 6-0). The Blue & White dropped each of the final three matches in three-sets. Brooker fell at No. 5 (0-6, 6-3, 6-3), followed by Hall (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) and Rivero (6-7, 6-2, 6-3) getting beaten at No. 6 and No. 5.
Asheville will travel to Durham, N.C. on Saturday, March 28 to take on North Carolina Central in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
