ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team will be the sixth seed in next week's Big South Conference Championship that will be played at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina starting on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (14-15) will start play on Wednesday vs. 11th-seeded Liberty at 6 p.m. The winner of that contest advances to the quarterfinals and takes on defending BSC champion Coastal Carolina Friday night at 8:30 p.m.
Asheville just defeated Liberty on Saturday in Lynchburg, 95-77 behind 27 points from Andrew Rowsey. The Bulldogs downed the Flames on Jan. 8 at Kimmel Arena, 71-54.
This will be the eighth meeting between the teams in BSC tournament play. Asheville holds a 4-3 advantage though the teams have not played since the 2008 semifinals at Justice Center that the Bulldogs won, 75-67. This will be the first time the schools have met in the first round of the tourney.
