ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team welcomes East Tennessee State to town on Tuesday night for a regional matchup two days removed from the Bulldogs' last contest, a Sunday afternoon victory over Campbell. ETSU has not played since a win over Milligan on December 10.

 

Tuesday night's game will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. and can be seen locally on WMYA MY40 in the Asheville area.

 

NOTABLES

Getting it Done on Defense: Asheville has held opponents under 65 points five times this season and are averaging allowing 63.4 points per game, the best mark in the Big South Conference. The Bulldogs allowed 70.4 points per game on average last season and held opponents to 65 or fewer points 11 total times. Overall, Asheville is holding opponents to just 39.8 percent shooting from the floor through nine games in the 2015-16 campaign, second in the conference behind Coastal Carolina's 37.5 opponent shooting percentage.

 

Freshman Sweeps Awards: Bulldog freshman Dwayne Sutton swept a pair of Big South Conference awards on Monday, earning the Big South Freshman of the Week honors from the league office and also being named College Sports Madness' Big South Player of the Week by the outside publication. Sutton had 18 points Sunday's Big South victory over Campbell, shooting 66 percent (8-of-12) from the floor while grabbing nine rebounds. He added an assist and block to his final stat line in the win.

 

Cleaning Up the Glass: In Sunday's victory over Campbell, the Bulldogs outrebounded the Camels 45-33 and are now +44 rebounding (349-287) to date this season. Asheville is tops in the Big South in defensive rebounding percentage, pulling down 75.8 percent of their total rebounds (251 total) on the defensive glass.

On another quick turnaround – “We have faced this situation several times already and will face it in conference play as well. Short turnaround, but that is good for our team to get used to these quick turnarounds like this. In Alaska we had quick turnarounds like the Big South Tournament will be and now we have another situation of two games in three days.
