QUOTABLES
“Disappointed with the outcome, but credit to Winthrop. They never really allowed us to get into a rhythm. Every game is a dogfight in the Big South Conference. Full credit to Winthrop, they showed their class and why they were the No. 1 seed and I wish them the best of luck. I am pleased for the way we approached the game. I thought for 90 minutes our effort was good. Our process is continuing to evolve and we understand that there are some things to work on going forward. We will take some time to evaluate where we are as a program and what we need to do to take the next step. What I am pleased with is this team has shown real progress and real promise, and despite a little bit of a heavy heart for our seniors tonight, I feel like we are moving in the right direction and am excited about next season. Certainly we didn't win as many games as we had liked to this year, and certainly not what we hope will be the standard at UNC Asheville for years to come.” – head coach Mathes Mennell
