ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team is back in action Wednesday night when the Bulldogs travel to Longwood for a date with the Lancers starting at 7 p.m.

Wednesday's game can be seen for free on the Big South Network at this link. Fans can also listen to the game on WWNC Radio on on-line at iHeartRadio with the pre-game show beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Asheville (9-10, 5-3 BSC) looks to bounce back after a disappointing 72-51 loss at High Point Saturday night. It was the worst BSC loss by the Dogs since an 80-59 defeat to Coastal Carolina in the 2010-11 season.

'We didn't play well in any phase of the game Saturday at High Point,” stated Bulldog coach Nick McDevitt. “We turned it over too much, especially early in the game and then didn't guard anybody. High Point took it to us and hopefully our guys can learn from this and be better.”

The Bulldogs face a dangerous Longwood (6-15, 2-6 BSC) squad on Wednesday. McDevitt expects a tough battle from the Lancers.

“Longwood is 5-2 at home and has been extremely competitive in Big South Conference play,” explained McDevitt. “They lost in overtime at Winthrop and nearly beat Coastal Carolina on the road. We've got to play a lot better than we did at High Point.”

Wednesday's contest ends a tough stretch for the Dogs as they've played five games in 11 days with four of them coming on the road. Asheville is 2-2 in this stretch with a win at Campbell and a home victory over Coastal Carolina last Thursday. The Dogs fell at Charleston Southern and High Point Saturday.

The teams played last season at Longwood with the Bulldogs winning a pulsating 67-66 decision. Sam Hughes hit two free throws with 17 seconds left off a steal from David Robertson for the winning points. Andrew Rowsey led the Dogs with 32 points as he tied a school-record with eight 3-pointers made.

Asheville has gone 2-1 against Longwood since the Lancer program joined the Big South. The Dogs edged the Lancers at Kimmel Arena two years ago, 68-65. Longwood dominated Asheville later in the year at the Big South Tournament when the Lancers ended the Dogs season with an 87-72 victory.

“We've had a tough time with Longwood since they joined the Big South,” declared McDevitt. “Our guys know this is going to be a tough game in a tough environment. “

Andrew Rowsey leads Asheville in scoring (18.7). David Robertson is second with an 11.7 average. Jaleel Roberts tops the team in rebounding (5.7) and blocked shots (50).

The Bulldogs return home on Saturday when they entertain Campbell at Kimmel Arena starting at 4:30 p.m.
