Former UNC Asheville men's basketball player Jeremy Atkinson is heading to Iceland to continue his pro career.

Jeremy played last year in the D-League for the Texas Legends. He was released earlier this month by Texas and has signed with Stjarnan of the Dominos League in Garðabær, Iceland.

He was drafted in the D-League last year by the Santa Cruz Warriors before being traded to Texas. In 38 games he recorded 4.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 1.0 apg.

The Elm City, N.C. native played at Asheville for two seasons (2011-13) and was a two-year starter for the Bulldogs at the power forward spot. As a junior, he helped leads the Blue & White to the Big South Conference regular-season and tournament title. He averaged 11.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team as the Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they nearly stunned top-seeded Syracuse.

As a senior, Jeremy was Asheville's leading scorer (17.8) and rebounder (7.1) and was named first team All-Conference by the Big South. His top game was a 31-point performance at St. John's when the Dogs stunned the Red Storm, 72-65.
