CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville guard Andrew Rowsey has been named Freshman of the Week for games played Jan. 27-Feb. 2, it was announced today by the Conference office.

Rowsey averaged 33.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two games last week.  He tied his career-high with 35 points against VMI, and then scored 32 points with a personal-best seven rebounds in the Bulldogs' one-point victory at Longwood.  Rowsey is the first player in Asheville's Division I history with back-to-back 30-point games.  He also tied the school record with 8 three-point field goals against the Lancers.  For the week, Rowsey was 20-of-37 from the floor (.541), 12-of-21 from beyond the arc (.571) and a perfect 15-of-15 from the free throw line.

It's the fourth time Rowsey has named Big South Freshman of the Week and third time in the last five weeks. Andrew is averaging a team-leading 18.5 points per game and that scoring average is fifth best nationally for scoring among freshman.

Rowsey and the Bulldogs start a two-game homestand at Kimmel Arena on Wednesday when they host Campbell starting at 7 p.m.
