JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team plays its final non-conference road game of the season on Tuesday night when the Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville State that will tip at 8 p.m. EST.

Tuesday's game can be heard locally on WWNC Radio (570-AM) and on-line at iHeartRadio with the pre-game show starting at 7:30 p.m.

Asheville (4-5) tries to get to .500 against a talented Gamecock (6-4) club that's won six of its last seven games. The Bulldogs fell at UAB Sunday night, 79-71.

“We've got another tough game Tuesday with Jacksonville State,” commented Asheville coach Nick McDevitt. “They have a good team and they're playing very well right now. Hopefully, we'll play well for 40 minutes.”

The Blue & White got off to a slow start at UAB as it fell behind 18-4 and eventually trailed by 16 late in the first half. Asheville made a great run and took the lead in the second half before the Blazers went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good. UAB went 10-of-10 from the charity stripe in the final three minutes to hold the Bulldogs at bay.

“We made a nice comeback at UAB and was proud of how we fought back after a bad start,” stated McDevitt. “But you can't fall behind a team the caliber of UAB on the road and expect to win."

David Robertson was a bright spot in defeat at UAB with a career-high 22 points. He kept the Bulldogs in the game in the first half with 15 points. Andrew Rowsey added 18 points and was in double figures for the 37th straight time dating back to last season. Alec Wnuk played well with nine points and eight rebounds off the bench.

This is the second meeting between the programs. JSU edged Asheville two years ago at Kimmel Arena in the Bracketbuster series, 71-69. Ronnie Boggs tapped in a missed Gamecock shot at the buzzer to give Jacksonville State the win.

Andrew Rowsey continues to lead the Bulldogs and the nation in scoring with a 24.4 average. He also leads the nation in three-pointers made per game with a 4.22 per game mark.

Robertson is next with an 11.7 average. Jaleel Robets tops the club in rebounding with a 6.0 mark.

After coming back from Jacksonville State last Tuesday night, Asheville turns its attention to mountain rival Western Carolina Sunday afternoon at Kimmel Arena starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at uncabulldogs.com/tickets.
