ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team plays its first and only exhibition game on Saturday night when the Bulldogs host Brevard College at Kimmel Arena starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at uncabulldogs.com/tickets.

Saturday's exhibition tilt can be seen for free on the Big South Network under the multimedia tag at uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 17-15 season in Nick McDevitt's first year as head coach. Asheville returns three starters and 11 letterman for the 2014-15 campaign. Included in the returnees is last year's Big South Freshman of the Year Andrew Rowsey. The sophomore guard enjoyed an incredible rookie campaign as he led the Big South and the Bulldogs in scoring with a 20.3 average. He set a single-season record for three-pointers made with 106. Rowsey was named to the Big South Preseason All-Conference first team last month.

This will be the third straight year the Dogs have faced Brevard in exhibition play. Asheville won last year's game, 86-45. The Tornados went 4-22 a year ago but are expected to be much improved this season. Coach McDevitt expects a tough game from Brevard on Saturday.

“Brevard is well-coached and has some good players,” stated McDevitt. “We'll want to look at a lot of different things tomorrow night. We're anxious to play a game after practicing for over a month. It will be good for our young guys to get a game under their belt before we start the regular season.”

The Blue & White open the regular season Friday night at Wake Forest before heading to East Carolina two days later (Nov. 16). Asheville's home opener is a first-time meeting with Johnson & Wales on Nov. 19.

The Bulldogs are young this season as 13 of the 17 players on the roster are either a freshman or sophomore.

“We're a young team this year,” explained McDevitt. “We've been doing a lot of teaching in practice, and we'll probably be doing that during games, as well.  There's a lot of potential with this young talent but it will take time to develop. Saturday's night exhibition game with Brevard should help with that development.”
