Rowsey Named Big South Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville guard Andrew Rowsey was named Big South Freshman of the Week on Monday after setting a school record in Saturday's loss to Ohio University.
Rowsey set the UNC Asheville single-game freshman scoring record with a career-high 28 points in a 79-70 loss to Ohio on Saturday. He was 6-of-14 from beyond the arc, 7-of-17 overall and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. He also grabbed a career-high six rebounds in the contest.
It marks the second time Rowsey has been honored by the Big South Conference this season. He is Asheville's leading scorer with a 16.4 average. The Lexington, Va. native also leads the Bulldogs in three-pointers made (74) and free throw percentage (.800).
Rowsey and the Bulldogs open Big South Conference play Wednesday night at Gardner-Webb starting at 7 p.m.
