Women's Tennis Stuns Coastal Carolina 5-2

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team picked up an impressive Big South Conference victory on Saturday as the Bulldogs won their 10th match of the year by upsetting Coastal Carolina 5-2 at the ARC.
Asheville (10-8, 3-4 BSC) bounced back from losing the doubles point and the first singles match to win five consecutive singles matches to earn the win over the Chanticleers (9-8, 4-2 BSC).
Asheville lost the first set in three different singles matches but rallied to win all of them to earn the victory. Zoe Hamel at #1 flight, Ericka Rivero at #3 flight and Amryn Soldier at #4 flight, all fought back to win their matches.
Christine Bossevain and Gillian Lewis won in straight sets at #5 and #6 flights.
Hamel lost the first set to Libby Scott, 5-7 but roared back to win 6-3, 6-3. Rivero trailed 4-6 to Mikaela Davies but rallied to win the match, 6-2, 6-4. Solder was behind 2-6 to Alicia Robinson but fought back to win, 6-3, 6-3.
Asheville is back in action on Sunday when it travels to Winthrop at 2 p.m.
