Radford Wins 1st Game10-4; Lurie Has Four Hits for Bulldogs

Game two started at 3:15 p.m.
The Bulldogs (15-24, 7-10 BSC) were led at the plate by Jordan Lurie who went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBI and his first home run of the season. He fell a double short of hitting for the cycle.
Radford (23-15, 9-5 BSC) unleashed a 16-hit attack in Saturday's first game. The Highlanders scored three runs in the first inning, and Asheville could get no closer the rest of the game.
Mark Peterson (4-1) earned the win for Radford by pitching 7.1 innings. He scattered 11 hits, allowing four runs, three earned. He struck out six and walked two.
The Highlanders also had three hits and two RBI from Brett Mollenhauer plus three hits from Carl Travers.
Asheville finished the game with 12 hits as Grant Gajdosz and Mike Vaughn had two hits each. The Bulldogs left 11 men on base and hit into two double-plays.
Radford had three doubles and four hits in the first inning to lead 3-0. Mack and Burgess had back-to-back run-scoring doubles in the frame.
The visitors added a solo run in the second on a RBI-single from Zach Costello to pad the lead to 4-0.
Lurie hit his first home run of the season over the right-field wall to get the Bulldogs on the board as he led off the third inning to cut the lead to 4-1.
Asheville was within striking distance at 6-2 when the Highlanders put the game away with four runs in the seventh inning. Jeff Kemp's safety squeeze plated the first run. A double from Mack pushed the lead to 8-2. Burgess and Mollenhauer had back-to-back RBI-singles to increase the Radford lead to 10-2.
The Bulldogs tried to rally. Lurie led off with a single and then went to third on the play on a throwing error. Robert McIntosh drove him in on an error to make it 10-3.
In the eighth, Lurie's run-scoring single drove in Danny Baatz to cut the lead to 10-4.
