EKU Completes Series Sweep Of Asheville, 13-6

RICHMOND, Ky. – In the third and final game of UNC Asheville's series with Eastern Kentucky the Bulldogs gave up a six-run fourth inning and a five-run eighth as the Colonels won the series finale going away, 13-6, on Sunday afternoon at Turkey Hughes Field.
The Bulldogs (4-10) saw their losing skid creep to 10 games while EKU improves to 6-8 with the victory.
Rightfielder Nick Collazo went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Bulldogs, with a run batted in and two runs scored. Catcher Ian Graham went 2-for-4 for Asheville with an RBI while Catlin Carter went 2-for-2 at the plate. Leftfielder Patrick Koontz picked up his first career home run on the day, a solo shot to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.
Robert McIntosh got the starting nod for the Blue & White and was credited with the loss after giving up seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits with five strikeouts and a walk. McIntosh falls to 0-2 on the season with the loss.
EKU collected 16 total hits with designated hitter Alex Hughes collecting three RBI, and Bryan Solomon and Sean Hagen each collecting two. Stephen Hefler picked up the win for the Colonels going seven and two-thirds innings. Hefler gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits with two walks and seven K's to improve to 2-1 on the year.
The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround as they will face Southern Conference foe Davidson on Tuesday in a midweek game beginning at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are 7-9 on the season and are led by Forrest Brandt, who is currently batting .404 on the season with a .577 slugging percentage.
