Davidson Edges Women's Tennis Opener, 4-3 in Opener

DAVDISON, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team opened the 2011 spring season with a great effort against Southern Conference power Davidson before falling, 4-3 Saturday afternoon at the Wildcat Tennis Center.
Asheville (0-1) picked up impressive singles wins from Britney Cloer, Devon Cavanaugh and Stephanie Schon but the Wildcats were able to win the doubles point and earn three singles wins to just slip past the Bulldogs.
The Asheville doubles team of Devon Cavanaugh and Zoe Hamel were able to win their match easily as they routed Alison Rauh/Brites Moniz-Soares of Davidson, 8-1.
The Bulldogs play again Saturday afternoon when they travel to Furman for a match at 1 p.m.
