Furman Downs UNC Asheville 6-1 in Women's Tennis

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Stephanie Schon won her singles match but Furman simply had too much firepower to down a short-handed UNC Asheville women's tennis team, 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
Schon, playing at the #4 flight, downed Jenny Porter of Furman in a tie-breaker in three sets. The senior won the match, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 12-10.
Devon Cavanaugh battled hard at #2 and went three sets with Lauren Kline before Kline was able to win in a tie-breaker. Due to injuries, the Bulldogs (0-2) only had five players competing.
Asheville plays its home opener on Sunday at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center when the Bulldogs host North Carolina Central at 3 p.m.
