Women's Tennis Earns First Win of Year

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Despite only having five players, UNC Asheville managed to win its first match of the year with a 4-3 victory over North Carolina Central Sunday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs (1-2) were able to win the doubles point as the duo of Britney Cloer and Stephanie Schon defeated Cameron Chatman and Olesya Palko, 8-4. Devon Cavanaugh and Zoe Hamel beat Myria Nedstrom and Fredrica Lombard, 8-4.
In singles action, Jackie McGuirk provided the difference in the match as she won at #5 singles. She defeated Tatiana Velasquez, 6-2, 6-3.
Asheville returns to action this Friday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center when it hosts Augusta State starting at 1 p.m.
