Women's Tennis Wins Second Straight with 5-2 Win over Augusta State

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Stephanie Schon won her fourth straight singles match to stay unbeaten on the season as UNC Asheville won its second straight match with a 5-2 victory over Augusta State University Friday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center.
Schon, playing at #2 flight, knocked off Marina Ferreira in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Asheville also got singles victories from Britney Cloer, Devon Cavanaugh and Zoe Hamel. The Bulldogs defaulted at #6 singles.
Asheville (2-2) was able to lead 1-0 after a hard-fought doubles points. Devon Cavanaugh and Zoe Hamel won at #2 flight over Victoria Lindquist and Julie Fontaine, 8-1. The Bulldogs sealed the win as Nicole Schon made her 2011 debut at doubles and teamed up with Jackie McGuirk at #3 doubles to win over Camila Correa and Rocheta Oliveira, 8-4.
Asheville plays again at home on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Appalachian State at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center starting at 3 p.m.
