Mack delivered the game-winning hit when he found the gap in left center field, clearing the bases on his only hit to give the Highlanders (10-7, 3-0 Big South) their first lead of the day.
The loss was a tough one for the Bulldogs (4-12, 0-3 Big South). Asheville led for most of the game and led 4-2 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. Bulldog starter Justin Schumer was tremendous in a losing effort. He struck out a career-high 10 hitters, allowed just five hits, only one run was earned and walked just two.
Danny Baatz and Schumer led Asheville at the plate with two hits each.
The Bulldogs jumped in front in the third inning when Catlin Carter's RBI-single scored Baatz to put Asheville in front, 1-0.
The visitors added a run in the fifth. Baatz opened the inning with a single. He stole second and went to third on an infield single. Baatz scored later in the inning on an infield groundout to push the lead to 2-0.
Radford got on the board in the bottom of the frame when Raphael Turner homered for the Highlanders first hit of the game. Schumer had retired the first 13 Radford hitters before Turner's homer.
The Bulldogs built the lead to 4-1 in the sixth. Schumer led off with a double and scored on Ian Graham's run-scoring double. Graham scored on a fielding error for the second run of the inning.
Radford scored an unearned run in the seventh to narrow the lead to 4-2. In the eighth, an error allowed the inning to continue and to load the bases. Mack's double gave the Highlanders the lead.
In the ninth with two outs, Carter walked. Robbie McIntosh sent a drive to deep right-center field that was hauled in by a diving Keen to end the game and give the Highlanders their first sweep of the Bulldogs at Radford in 20 years.
Asheville begins a five-game homestand on Tuesday when the Bulldogs entertain mountain rival Western Carolina at Greenwood Field starting at 3 p.m.
