Women's Tennis Captures 10th Win of the Season Against N.C. Central
04.04.2009 | Women's Tennis
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team swept North Carolina Central 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Asheville School.
The Bulldogs won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. NCCU was shutout in two of the doubles matches.
Asheville was victorious in all of the singles matches. Leslie Smith had the only close match of the day as she defeated Kateryna Chorna, 7-5, 5-7, 10-4.
"Leslie beat a good player today," said head coach Lise Gregory. "She's done a very good job this year, but she's been in a lot of close matches this year because she's playing in the top position. She's been working hard, and it was nice to see her get the win today."
Asheville improves its record to 10-6. NCCU falls to 3-12.
The Bulldogs play again Monday as they will travel to Brevard for a 2:30 p.m. match.
