Coastal Carolina Snaps Bulldogs' Five-Match Winning Streak

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis fell 6-1 to Coastal Carolina on Saturday at the Asheville School.
The Chanticleers earned the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches. UNC Asheville's pairing of Devon Cavanaugh and Louise Bottomley claimed an 8-3 victory over CCU's Patricia Cortes and Tina Petkova in the No. 2 doubles match.
Coastal took five of the six singles matches. The Bulldogs' lone singles victory came from Stephanie Schon at No. 2 as she defeated Petkova 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
"We didn't play as well as we could have," said head coach Lise Gregory. "They are a well coached team, and it's very difficult to come back on them if you fall behind early."
The loss snaps Asheville's five-match winning streak. The Bulldogs are now 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big South.
Coastal Carolina moves to 6-1 and 3-0 in the Big South.
The Bulldogs travel to Georgia next week for three matches in three days. On Monday, the Bulldogs face North Georgia in Dahlonega at noon. The team plays Mercer on Tuesday at noon in Macon. The final game takes places on Wednesday as UNC Asheville takes on UNC Wilmington at a neutral site in Peachtree City at 9:30 a.m.
