CHARLOTTE, N.C.  ? UNC Asheville senior forward Reid Augst and freshman guard Matt Dickey were honored respectively by the Big South Conference on Monday.

Augst earned second team All-Conference honors, while Dickey was named to the league's All-Freshman team. The voting was done by the league's head coaches and media panel throughout the conference.

Augst has enjoyed an excellent senior year. He is the only senior on this year's Bulldog team and was the team's leading scorer with a 15.1 average. The Richmond, Va. native led UNC Asheville in scoring 18 different times this year. Augst is second on the team in rebounding (4.8) and assists (72) and leads in steals (48). He helped lead a young Bulldog team that was picked to finish in ninth place in the Big South Conference to a fourth-place finish.  Augst set a single-game school record against Charleston Southern on Feb. 7 when he went 5-for-5 from the three-point line. He was named Co-Big South Player of the Week once this year.

“I'm really happy for Reid to be named second team all-conference,” stated UNC Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach. “He was our lone senior this season and has been a leader for us both on and off the court.”

Dickey moved into the starting line-up midway through the season and has been a real spark for the Bulldogs on offense and defense. He is Asheville's third leading scorer with a 10.8 average and leads the team in free throw percentage at 81.9 percent (68-of-83). Dickey is third on the team in three-pointers made with 42.  The Trussville, Alabama native has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 15 games entering Tuesday's Big South Tournament game. He was named Big South Freshman of the Week once this year.

“Matt has been terrific this season,” said Biedenbach. “He has steadily improved throughout the year and been a key reason for our good play down the stretch.”
