CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Radford junior center Artsiom Parakhouski and UNC Asheville senior guard Reid Augst have been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for games played Feb. 2-8. The league made the announcement today.
Augst enjoyed two strong games in leading the Bulldogs to two wins. He scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had four steals in Asheville's 103-95 overtime win at League-leading VMI last Monday. Augst was 8-of-15 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line. Against Charleston Southern, Augst dropped in 19 points, all in the second-half, dished out seven assists, collected six rebounds and set a school record with a 5-of-5 performance from three-point range. Augst, who was shooting .214 percent from three-point distance entering the week, went 6-of-6 from beyond the arc ( =1.000), 15-for-28 overall from the floor ( =.536) and averaged 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals.
The Richmond, Va. native became the 24th player in school history and 91st player in Big South history to reach 1,000 points in his career when he hit a trey against Charleston Southern on Saturday. He now has 1,008 career points.
