Nicole Schon wins Clinching Match to Give Bulldogs 4-3 Victory Over Kennesaw State

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Nicole Schon won a three-set clincher against Kennesaw State's Mercedes Cabos to give UNC Asheville a 4-3 victory over the Owls on Saturday afternoon at Asheville High School.
Schon won the first set 6-4, but Cabos took the second set 7-5. Schon swept Cabos 6-0 in the deciding set.“It was nice for Nikki Schon to win the clinching match,” said head coach Lise Gregory. “It's always good to see someone step up in a pressure packed situation.”
In doubles, Leslie Smith and Stephanie Schon defeated KSU's Vera Schkundia and Tanaka 8-3. Louise Bottomley and Cavanaugh captured an 8-3 victory over Cabos and Alena Sergeychik.
The win pushes UNC Asheville to 2-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs return to the court on Feb. 10 against North
