Final Recap
Great win for the Doggers. Bulldogs improve to 2-1 in the Big South and have now won two straight games after beating Western Carolina on Wednesday. Asheville will travel to Gardner-Webb this Wednesday. GWU apparently lost to VMI. We had some miss-information by the PA announcer. Anyway, Dogs shoot 49 percent for the game. Augst leads the way with 24 points. Primm with 18, Williams with 12, and Stubbs with 11 points. Eric Stubbs has really been playing well since getting into the starting line-up. Dogs 23-for-36 (64 percent) from the line tonight. The three-point shot kept CSU in the game late. They hit seven 3's on the night to just three for Asheville but the Dogs hit the job on the boards. Out-rebounding CSU 42-36. Coach B, on the radio show giving praise for a great group effort. Hopefully the Dogs are hitting their stride now that conference play is starting for real. Bulldogs 6-9 on the season win their first road game of the year. Hopefully the women can follow by picking up their first road win here on Monday. The Men are off til Wednesday. Warren hits a three-pointer, he has hit four in the game and has 19 points. Dickey goes 2-for-2 from the line a missed three on the other end and CSU will not foul. That will do it. UNC Asheville wins 76-65.
50.4 seconds left -- Asheville 74, CSU 62
Williams hits both free throws after the timeout to get the lead back to 11. A CSU turnover gives the ball back. Primm a nice drive to the basket and a hoop. I don't know what Coach B said, but the Dogs are back up 13. After a CSU basket Williams gets his first dunk of the night. He has 11 points. Primm has 16 points, Stubbs also with 11 to give the Dogs four players in double-figures. Bulldogs using clock up 11 with two minutes to play. Bailey gets to the basket to once again get the Bucs to within nine. Bailey has 11 and Martin with 10. Augst goes 2-for-2 from the stripe to get it back to 11 but Bailey answers with 1:06 to play, Martin picks up his fourth foul, 69-60. Williams goes 1-for-2 and Bailey scores this third straight basket but has to commit his fourth foul to send Primm to the line. An air ball by lane and Bailey fouls out with 15 points.
Final Media time out 3:34 left in the game?Asheville 61, CSU 52
Coach Radebaugh calls his final timeout with 6:51 left to play although he didn't want to. A CSU player was trapped in the corner. Someone on the CSU bench screamed timeout and the officials gave it to them. CSU pulls to within 57-47 with a 9-0 run before Stubbs ends the run with a hoop, but Bailey scores to bring it back to a 10 point game. Bucs had a chance to get within 10 but missed and Augst converts on the other end to get the lead back to 12. Augst has 20 points tonight. Warren hits another three to get CSU as close as they have been in this half at 61-52. Dogs will be at the line when we come back.

News reaches us that Gardner-Webb defeated VMI tonight. GWU is Asheville's next opponent on Wednesday in Boiling Springs. Will someone please call the conference office and ask them why we no longer have a Coastal/Charleston Southern road trip. I thought we were supposed to be conserving gas. Augst and Primm hit back-to-back baskets, Dogs by 19 (57-38). CSU uses its 4th time out, they have one remaining with 9:50 to play. CSU's Coach Barclay Radebaugh is not pleased with the officiating tonight. He is taking every opportunity to voice his opinion. Quietly CSU is on a 5-0 run to bring the score to 57-43. Let's not quit playing yet.
6th Media time out 11:15 left in the game?Asheville 51, CSU 35
Warren has been CSU's best player tonight. He hits another three and has 13 points. Stubbs gets a hoop to end a 5-0 Buccaneer run. Martin answers with a basket to make it 47-35. Stubbs hits an amazing one-handed shot after a Primm air ball but it's was just after the horn. Officials rule a shot clock violation and no basket but wow was it ever impressive, easily the coolest thing that statically never happened. Thanks to Ryan Riddle for texting and letting me some one is watching. Don't worry, I will keep you posted. Primm hits his second three-pointer of the night, Dogs are up 51-35 and appear to be in control. The Dogs beat CSU three times last season.

Jones still in the locker room as we start the second half. CSU empty on its first possession. Jones comes out with 18:59 left with his right ankle wrapped in ice. Bulldogs score the first three points out of the locker room hand have their largest lead at 37-24. Issues at the scorer's table the clock continued to run while CSU was lining up for free throws. They have gone to the monitor twice to resolve timing issues. Ridenhour picks up his third foul with 17:19 left and the Dogs up 13. Sean Smith replaces Ridenhour and hits a a jumper for a 15 point lead. August to the basket time out Charleston Southern. It extends to a media timeout. CSU only has two time outs remaining.
First Half Recap
Jones appears to be alright as he was helped to the locker room. We will see when they come out for the second half shoot around. Dogs are shooting 44 percent (12-27) at halftime. CSU is shooting 10-32 (31 percent). Dogs getting to the line, 8-for-13 (62 percent), CSU struggling 1-for-8 (13 percent) from the line. Bucs making an effort from long range are 3-for-9 (33 percent). Yes they are better from 21 feet than from 15 feet. Go figure. Dogs are just 2-for-8 (25 percent) from three-point range. Turnovers are pretty even eight for Asheville, seven for CSU. Dogs out-rebounding the Bucs 24-20. All in all a good half for Coach B and the Dogs trying to get the first road win of the year and move to 2-1 in Big South play.
Halftime?Asheville 34, CSU 24
Primm hits three with the shot clock winding down to give the Dogs their largest lead at 30-20, after a stop, Augst converts a lay-up in transition. Dogs by 12. CSU calls its second timeout of the half. Bailey hits the Bucs fourth three-pointer of the half to end a 7-0 Asheville run. Its CSU first basket in three minutes. Warren hit a tough floater at the buzzer to pull CSU to 34-24 at the break. Donovan Jones, trying to draw a charge went down hard and took a little time to get off the floor to the locker room.
4th Media time out 3:11 left first half?Asheville 27, CSU 20
Bulldogs led by as many as nine in the half but CSU has scored five straight points forcing Coach B to use his :30 first half timeout with Asheville ahead 20-17. Williams answers the run with a lay-up and a dunk for a personal 4-0 run to put the Dogs back up seven forcing CSU to use a timeout. Williams converts the and one after the timeout. He has six straight points and is now Asheville's leading scorer. Warren hits a long three-pointer for CSU. Bucs have hit three three-pointers in the half, but are only shooting 30 percent from the floor.
3rd Media time out 7:21 left first half?Asheville 19, CSU 12
Bulldogs doing a good job handling CSU's press, the shots just aren't falling for anyone. Dogs get a bad break. Williams gets a lay-up and is fouled but the officials say the foul is on the floor and wave off the basket. Williams misses the front end of the one and one. Dickey hits a three to make everything all right. Dickey has the last five Asheville points until Stubbs hits a free throw to make it 17-9. Both teams trade baskets. Bulldogs shooting free throws after the timeout, 15 fouls in the half. Nine on CSU, 6 on Asheville.
2nd Media time out 11:31 left first half?Asheville 11, CSU 7
Sean Hobbs an early appearance in the game, still neither team shooting well. CSU 1-for its first-7. JP Primm has a three-pointer for the Dogs. Dogs are trying to beat the Bucs full court press with long passes. It is worked a couple of times. Matt Dickey a nice basket to put Asheville up 11-7.

Slow start to this one. Reid Augst has the Dogs only basket, John Williams added a free throw. Physical game so far, five fouls called in the first four minutes.
Welcome to Charleston for the Bulldogs' Big South opener at Charleston Southern. With the women's game being played earlier today at Coastal, Coach Blose decided to come on down and support the men's team. I will be giving some thoughts on the game as it is going on.
