Stockhausen Leads Bulldogs Past Presbyterian 4-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - McKenna Stockhausen scored twice and added two assists as UNC Asheville opened Big South Conference play with a 4-1 home triumph over Presbyterian Wednesday afternoon.

“This was a nice win for us today,” commented UNC Asheville coach Michele Cornish. “We really did a great job going forward today. Our offense really seemed to click today. I thought we were dangerous all day long when we were on the move.”
Cornish was especially pleased with the play of Stockhausen. The junior forward had six points in the match.
“McKenna was all over the field today,” stated Cornish. “She was just a handful for them (Presbyterian). McKenna used her speed very well and was really active all day long.”
The Blue Hose controlled much of the first part of the match and fired the first four shots of the game before the Bulldogs got goals on their first two shots.
Stockhausen picked up her first goal of the year when she scored off a pass from Keri Skelton at the 25:14 mark as
The Bulldogs quickly made it 2-0 when Stockhausen made a pass to Robyn Busha in the goalmouth area. Busha tapped in past Presbyterian goalkeeper Abby Young for a 2-0 lead at 29:04.

Stockhausen tallied her second goal at 77:57 when she followed her own shot. Her shot from six yards out was stopped by Young but the rebound when right to Stockhausen who then used her back heel to score for a 4-1
The Bulldogs out-shot PC 13-9. Young had five saves for the Blue Hose in goal. Each team had three corner kicks.
