ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville center Kenny George received his plaque from the NCAA this week for leading the nation in field goal percentage.

The Chicago native shot a school-record and Big South-record 69.6 percent from the field this season. He played in 28 games and was 151-of-217 from the field as he helped lead the Bulldogs to a school-record 23 wins, a co-Big South Conference regular-season championship and a berth in the NIT.

George becomes the first UNC Asheville men's basketball player to ever lead the nation in any statistical category. The last Bulldog student-athlete to lead the nation in a statistic was volleyball player Ilona Fekete who led the nation in blocks during the 1990 season.

In addition, the Bulldog men's basketball program also received a plaque from the NCCA for leading the nation in the least amount of personal fouls per game. Asheville had just 14.1 fouls called on them per game.
