ASHEVILLE, N.C ? The UNC Asheville men's basketball team will find out where it's going in the National Invitational Tournament this Sunday night. The NIT Selection Show will be shown on ESPN 2 from 9 p.m.-9:30 p.m. The school will host a selection party at Wild Wing Caf? on 161 Biltmore Ave.
The Bulldogs will become the first team ever from the Big South Conference to go to the post-season NIT Tournament. UNC Asheville will play in a first-round game either on Tuesday or Wednesday night on the road. The Dogs earned the NIT trip by being co-champions of the Big South Conference during the regular season with a 10-4 record. They tied Winthrop for the title but earned the first seed with two victories over the Eagles, including a 63-50 triumph at Winthrop on March 1.
Asheville has an overall record of 23-9 and the 23 victories are the most in school history. The Bulldogs advanced to the Big South Conference Tournament game before falling to Winthrop, 66-48 last Saturday (March 8) at Justice Center.
