ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's basketball team will try to get back on the winning track when the Bulldogs travel to Wofford for a non-conference battle with the Terriers Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WISE (1310-AM) radio.

UNC Asheville started the young season out 3-0 for the second straight year but the Bulldogs ran into a Campbell buzz-saw Saturday in Buies Creek as they lost 94-57. It was a tough game for a very young UNC Asheville team.

“The Campbell game was a tremendous learning experience for our young team on Saturday,” said UNC Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach. “We didn't play well in any phase. They (Campbell) dominated us from start to finish. Hopefully, we'll learn from

this game and be better prepared for Wofford.”

The Bulldogs will have their hands full with a red-hot Wofford squad. The Terriers captured the Air Force Invitational this weekend two impressive victories. Wofford downed Texas Pan-American in the first game, 75-70 and then sprinted past Air Force, 74-61.

“I was very impressed with what Wofford accomplished this weekend,” commented Biedenbach. “Winning at Air Force is not easy and Wofford went in and beat them decisively. We're going to have play a lot better on Tuesday than we did last Saturday at Campbell.”

UNC Asheville leads the all-time series 16-6 but the teams are meeting for just the third time since both programs went Division I. The Bulldogs and Terriers last met in the 1995-96 season when Randy Weil coached Asheville and current Wofford Athletics Director Richard Johnson was the head coach of the Terriers. The teams played twice that year with Asheville winning both meetings. The Dogs won at Justice Center, 82-53 and 76-67 in Spartanburg.

The Bulldogs have four players averaging in double figures in scoring after four games. Junior Sean Smith tops the club with an 11.8 average. Smith is 11-of-21 from beyond the arc this year. Reid Augst is averaging 11.5 points per game, while John Williams and J.P. Primm are averaging 10.8 points per game.

Wofford is led by Noah Dahlman. He's averaging 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Junior Salters is next with a 13.5 scoring average.
