ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's basketball team plays its final home game of the season Saturday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Radford University at Justice Center starting at 4:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WISE (1310-AM) Radio and tape delayed on TV on Channel 16 on Charter Cable. The men's game will run at 11 p.m. Saturday and on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (Feb. 24) of next week at 9 p.m.

Prior to the game, UNC Asheville will honor senior forward Joey Harrell who is playing his last home game at Justice Center. Harrell is the Bulldogs leading rebounder (5.4) and fourth leading scorer (6.8)

The Bulldogs (8-18, 3-8 BSC) desperately need a victory to end a four-game BSC losing streak. Asheville dropped a frustrating 69-67 league decision to High Point Wednesday night at Justice Center. The Bulldogs led most of the game before falling in the final five seconds on a desperation three-pointer.

"We played pretty well against High Point," admitted Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach. "However, we didn't get the job and win the game. We simply didn't make enough plays down the stretch to get a win."

Asheville is looking for its second win of the year over Radford. The Bulldogs slipped past the Highlanders, 77-67 at the Dedmon Center on Jan. 18. The Dogs built a 23-point lead in the first half and held off several runs to earn the league road win.

"It was a nice win at Radford," said Biedenbach. "Our guys were ready to play, got off to a great start and were able to hold them at bay in the second half. We're going to need another effort like that on Saturday to come out with a win."

Radford (8-19, 3-9 BSC) is coming off an impressive 114-107 home triumph over VMI Wednesday night. Senior forward Chris Oliver had a game to remember against the Keydets as he scored 36 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Oliver leads Radford in scoring with a 19.2 average. Forward Reggie McIntyre is second on the team in scoring with a 12.9 mark. The Highlanders are coached by 1986 UNC Asheville graduate Byron Samuels.

"Radford is a talented club," said Biedenbach. "Like us, they've lost some games they think they should have won. We're going to have to play extremely well to have a chance to beat them."

The Bulldogs continue to be led in scoring by Bryan Smithson with a 14.2 average. K.J. Garland is averaging 11.1 points per game and had 104 assists. Garland has 307 career assists and needs just five assists to move past Vincent Krieger (311) into seventh place on the career assist list at UNC Asheville. 7-7 center Kenny George had a great game against High Point, scoring a career-high 14 points with seven rebounds and a career-best 17 minutes.
