Zach Rothenberg has been announced as the new Director of Operations for UNC Asheville Women’s Basketball, announced June 1, 2023 by Head Coach Honey Brown.
Rothenberg comes to Asheville after serving as a graduate assistant, and eventually taking on the Director of Operations role with the women’s basketball program at Southern Methodist University in Fort Worth, Texas.
Prior to his time at SMU, he was a four-year student manager for the University of Illinois women’s basketball program including serving his last two seasons as the head student manager. In this role, he assisted in all facets of the Big Ten women’s basketball program. Along with his role with the women’s basketball program, he was named a James Scholar along with making the Dean’s List all seven of his semesters at Illinois.
A native of Deerfield, Ill., Rothenberg holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from SMU, which he completed in May. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Sport and Tourism with a concentration in Sport Management and a minor in Business from Illinois (2022).
