2021-22 Season (Senior) - Morkel was one of the top players in the Big South during the 2021-22 campaign...The South Africa native went 11-5 in singles playing other team's No. 1 or No. 2 player...Morkel posted an identical 11-5 mark in doubles action...She was named the Big South's Player of the Week on February 23...At the conclusion of the season, Morkel was named to the All-Big South First Team in bothe singles and doubles...Furthermore, Morkel was not only Asheville's All-Big South Academic Team member, but she also earned the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year.Â
2020-21 Season (Junior) -Â A part of the Big South All-Academic Team for the second straight year, and awarded Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year boasting a 3.94 grade-point average ... Earned recognition on First Team All-Conference for singles play ... Named Big South Player of the Week (February 17) after a 6-4, 6-2 singles win and a 7-6 doubles win against Emmanuel College ... Was second on the team in singles victories with a record of 9-4, with all but one match at the No. 1 flight ... Started the season with seven straight singles victories ... Went 6-6 in doubles play competing mainly at the No. 2 flight, while also securing a victory at the No. 1 flight.Â
2019-2020 Season (Sophomore) - Earned recognition on the Big South All-Academic Team, sporting a 4.0 grade-point average … Named the Big South Player of the Week in two consecutive weeks (February 12 and 19) … Went 6-4 in singles play at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots during the season shortened due to COVID-19, boasting a 4-0 record at No. 2 … Earned a three-set comeback victory against Chattanooga (February 14) to help the Bulldogs take down the Mocs, 4-3 … Teamed up with freshman Rosie Dickson for a 5-3 record at No. 1 doubles, including a 6-2 victory in the conference opener at USC Upstate.

2018-19 Season (Freshman) - Became the first Bulldog in program history to be named Big South Freshman of the Year … Named Big South Player of the Week twice (Jan. 23 and March 20) as well as Big South Freshman of the Week twice (Feb. 6 and April 10) … Named second-team All-Conference in doubles alongside partner Taylor Love … Finished the season with an impressive 15-2 singles record while playing all of her matches at No.1 singles … Earned First-Team All-Big South recognition in singles … Ended with a 12-4 doubles record while playing at No. 1-3 with three different partners throughout the season.

Prior to UNC Asheville -Â Ranked No. 1 in South Africa for U18s in 2018 ... Morkel won a grade 5 ITF tournament in Botswana in singles and doubles in 2018 ... She also won a doubles Futures event in South Africa.
