2025-26 Season (Redshirt Freshman) - Jakel Powell played in 10 games during his freshman season...He recorded a season-high eight points against Morris on Dec. 18, 2025 and six rebounds against Bryan on Nov. 13, 2025...He had 32 points on the year, averaging 3.2 a game, with seven 3-pointers and 15 rebounds.

The 6-5 guard attended Raleigh Christian before starting college at FAU. Powell redshirted during the 2023-24 season and did not participate during the 2024-25 season. Powell comes to Asheville with four years of eligibility.
The Raleigh, N.C. native played in 31 games during his senior year of high school and averaged 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
Before transferring to Raleigh Christian for the 2022-23 season, Powell played at the Burlington School, where he won a State Championship in 2022.
