Justin Levine will begin his sixth season as a member of the UNC Asheville men’s basketball coaching staff in 2026-27.

Levine earned his 100th victory on staff on Feb. 21, 2026, in an overtime win against Radford. In 2025-26, he helped guide the Bulldogs to their seventh consecutive season with at least eight conference wins and a fourth straight trip to the Big South semifinals, making UNC Asheville one of just 22 programs nationally to accomplish that feat. The Bulldogs led the conference in multiple offensive categories while allowing the league’s lowest scoring average over the last three seasons and averaged more than 73 points per game for the seventh consecutive year.

In his time at UNC Asheville, the Bulldogs have recorded a program-record 70 wins over a three-year span, posted a league-best .712 Big South Conference winning percentage over four seasons, and gone 47-19 in league play. Asheville went 38-3 at Kimmel Arena from the 2022-23 season to the 2024-25 season, the third-best home winning percentage in Division I during that span.

During Levine’s tenure, the Bulldogs have captured a Big South regular season and tournament championship, earned an NCAA Tournament berth, and produced multiple 20-win seasons. He has helped develop numerous all-conference performers, including Drew Pember, the program’s most decorated player in history and a multiple-time Big South Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and national award recipient.

Levine joined Mike Morrell's staff in June 2021.

Prior to UNC Asheville, Levine spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Columbia after serving in multiple roles at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was part of a staff that posted a 94-43 record with three NCAA Tournament appearances.

During the summer of 2018, Levine served as head coach of Ram Nation in The Basketball Tournament, leading a roster of VCU alumni to the quarterfinals.

As an undergraduate student, Levine worked for the Cornell men’s basketball program from 2013-15 while studying at nearby Ithaca College. Levine graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 2015, earning his master’s degree from the VCU Center for Sport Leadership in 2017.
