2023 Season (Sophomore) - Burnett developed into one of the best players in the Big South in 2023...Limited to 38 games due to injury, Burnett hit .379 with 13 home runs and 35 RBI...Burnett, who was Asheville's primary center fielder when healthy, stole 11 bases, scored 48 times, totaled 10 doubles and three triples...Finished the season with an on-base percentage of .486...Homered twice vs. Iona on March 5...In 38 games, Burnett totaled 21 multi-hit performances...Posted a 13-game hitting streak in 2023...Reached base successfully in 33 straight games as well...For his play, Burnett was named to the 2023 All-Big South First Team....Also was recognized for his work as a student by being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.Â
2022 Season (Freshman) - Burnett made an immediate impact for the Bulldogs in his first season with the program in 2022...Becoming Asheville's main second baseman early in the season, Burnett hit .322 with eight doubles, three triples, five home runs, and 33 RBI...Burnett's five home runs along with his six stolen bases were tied for the team-lead...Made his debut on February 18 at Virginia Tech in a pinch-hitting appearance...Tallied his first hit a day later against the Hokies...Had 14 mult-hit games as a freshman, including a career-high four hits in a Big South Tournament game against Gardner-Webb...Hit home runs against Mercer, North Carolina A&T, Gardner-Webb, and Winthrop...Blasted two home runs on May 8 against Gardner-Webb...Was a two-time Big South Freshman of the Week honoree...For his efforts all season long, Burnett was named to the Big South's All-Freshman Team at season's end.Â
Prior to UNC Asheville -Â Burnett named his high school conference's 2021 Co-Player of the Year last spring after hitting .500, posting an on-base percentage of .654, slugging three home runs and stealing 14 bases in 14 games...During his high school career, Burnett posted a .432 batting average and stole 36 bases...Was a member of the Oak City Gliders club team that won a conference championship. Following a season where he hit .388 with four long balls, Burnett was selected to participate in an All-Star game and home run derby...Also an excellent student as he was a member of the National Honors Society and National Achievers Society in high school.
