Ware's Brace Powers Bulldogs Past Longwood to Big South Conference Shutout over Longwood

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer used a brace and five total points from Tyler Ware to power past Longwood for a Big South Conference victory by a score of 3-0. The Bulldogs continue their best start since 1996, and open conference play with a clean sheet for the first time since a 1-0 win at USC Upstate back on Sept. 28, 2019.

The teams traded runs, chances and possessions throughout the first half, but despite Asheville outshooting Longwood 11-2 in the period and edging them 6-1 in corner kicks the match went to the break scoreless.

Just seven minutes into the second, the teams entered a lightning delay that lasted two-plus hours. After the break, the Bulldogs would score early and often to start conference play with a massive win. Ware scored his fourth of the season to open the scoring in the 57th minute off an assist from Ian Smith, marking his 11th career goal and Smith's second assist of the season and third of his career. Ware would record his brace and put the Bulldogs up 2-0 with a free kick goal in the 62nd minute, before the Bulldogs would keep the offensive pressure on. Just six minutes later, Ware would create another run down the near wing to feed a hard-charging Kayoum M'Bamba who finished with his right foot for his third goal of the season and third of his career with Ware's fifth assist of the season and 12th of his career. The Bulldogs would dominate possession until the final horn sounded.
