CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lucca Barros has been named the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Aug. 31).

Barros helped Asheville to a 1-1 draw at No. 3 Furman back on Monday (Aug. 24), matching his career-high between the pipes with eight saves.

This is Barros's second career Big South Conference weekly honor. The Mint Hill, N.C. native is a double major in business and mass communications.

The Bulldogs (1-0-1) return to action tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 1) to host Warren Wilson in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com. Â
