CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer senior defender Lennart Granzow has been named the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Aug. 24).

The Big South Conference Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year helped anchor Asheville to a 1-0-0 start by scoring his first career game-winning goal in a 1-0 win against Northern Kentucky on Aug. 20, helping Asheville to its first season-opening shutout since 2015.

This is Granzow's first career Big South Conference Player of the Week honor. The Hamburg, Germany native is a business administration major.Â

After tonight's match at No. 3/2 Furman, the Bulldogs return to action next Tuesday (Sept. 1) to host Warren Wilson in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
