Baseball Suspended in the Sixth Inning, Bulldogs Leading 9-7

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Baseball saw it's Saturday (Apr. 25) game suspended in the top of the sixth with Asheville leading 9-7. The game will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday (Apr. 26).
After a scoreless first inning, Charleston Southern struck first with one run in the top of the second before Asheville responded with two runs in the home half for a 2-1 lead through two innings. Tyler Parks led off the home half of the second with a 1-1 single through the left side, before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Logan Lowe. Parks would score to tie the game on a double to right center by Zeb Swangim, before Jake Pereira singled a bounding ball through the left side to score Swangim and give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. Charleston Southern answered with six runs in the top of the third for a 7-2 lead, before the Bulldogs responded in a big way with five runs to tie the game. Jake Minarik and Tyler Parks were both hit by pitches to start the inning for the Bulldogs. Lowe laid down another sacrifice bunt to advance both runners, before Minarik scored and Parks advanced to third on a wild pitch. Parks would score on a sacrifice fly to left by Swangim, before Pereira would continue the inning drawing a walk and advancing to second on a wild pitch. Patrick Gillen and Blaize Johnson would each draw a walk to load the bases with two outs in the inning, before Owen Michelson would deliver the big blow in the inning with a double down the left field line that cleared the bases. After a scoreless fourth, Asheville would tack on two runs in the fifth before the game was halted with its second rain delay before the decision was made to suspend it for the day and resume tomorrow. Johnson would put the Bulldogs ahead in the game with a one-out solo shot to right for his 10th of the season, before Michelson drew a walk to continue the momentum in the inning. Krumpe would single to second base, but Michelson was thrown out on the play at third. After battling to a full count, Minarik would rip a double into the left center gap that would allow Krumpe to score from first and put the game at 9-7.
