Asheville Travels to Cullowhee for Catamount Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville Track and Field team will conclude its 2026 outdoor regular season at the Catamount Classic this Friday (April 24), hosted by Western Carolina University.
Field events will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, starting with the women's pole vault. Track events will open with the women's 4x100m relay at 3:00 p.m. Results for all events will be available here. The event will be streamed on ESPN+ starting at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Alison Graf and Jan Málek represented Asheville last week at the Wake Forest Invitational. Graf delivered an impressive performance in the women's 800m, winning her heat with a personal-best time of 2:09.27. Málek competed in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, finishing 11th in section two with a time of 9:08.75.
As a team, Asheville last competed at the Bulldog Invite, where the Bulldogs recorded four event victories, 23 personal bests, 20 season bests, and six updates to the program record book. The freshman class led the way, with Demorris Jordan and Marika Dickel earning Big South Track & Field Male and Female Athletes of the Week honors.
Dickel placed second in the 3,000m steeplechase in her collegiate debut, clocking 11:32.56—good for fourth all-time in program history. Jordan finished runner-up in the 200m with a personal-best time of 21.27 seconds, the fifth-fastest mark in the conference this season. He also placed third in the 100m (10.51) and helped the Bulldogs' 4x100m relay team to a second-place finish (41.06). His 200m time ranks No. 4 in program history.
