School Records from Hannah, Graf Highlight Catamount Classic

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track & field team wrapped up its 2026 outdoor regular season on Friday at the Catamount Classic, highlighted by two school records and several standout performances.
In a historic performance, Alison Graf broke the school record in the women's 800m, clocking a personal-best 2:08.58 to win the event. It marked the second straight meet Graf set a personal best in the event and improved the previous school record by 0.28 seconds. Graf had held the program's No. 2 all-time mark since the 2024 season.
Ella Warren followed Graf in the women's 800m, placing sixth overall with a personal-best 2:16.52.
Madison Hannah added another record-breaking performance in the women's discus, finishing runner-up with a throw of 45.99m. The mark shattered Asheville's 25-year-old school record by 1.15 meters and marked a personal-best improvement of nearly two meters. The previous record of 44.84m was set by Crystal Goure in 2001. Hannah also placed 12th in the hammer throw at 39.11m and 13th in the shot put (10.91m).
Demorris Jordan continued his strong sprint season, winning the men's 100m in 10.67 before adding a runner-up finish in the 200m with a time of 21.51.
Jonas Roach controlled the men's 5,000m race from the start, earning the win in a personal-best 15:02.01 — a seven-second improvement. Asher Roach added a ninth-place finish in 15:35.73.
Jan Málek turned in a strong performance in the men's 1,500m, placing second in 3:51.08, the third-fastest 1,500m time of his career.
Jaelyn Arnold secured a podium finish in the women's shot put, taking third with a mark of 12.68m. Arnold also placed ninth in the hammer throw (43.63m).
Bulldog Top Finishers
Blake Hawks led Asheville in the men's triple jump with a fourth-place finish (13.93m). Max Smydra followed in sixth (13.65m), while Elijah Able placed ninth (13.42m).
Jeremiah Louis took fourth in the men's 400m (49.34), while Braelin June posted a personal-best 49.62 to finish seventh. Alexis Vaughan made her women's 400m debut and placed sixth in 57.25.
Bennett Moreno placed fourth in the men's 800m with a personal-best 1:52.52, moving into No. 5 on Asheville's all-time performance list. Jaheem O'Hara (seventh, 1:54.60) and Preston Core (10th, 1:56.76) also recorded top-10 finishes.
In the women's 5,000m, Ella Moore paced the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish in 18:26.30, while Sophie Lundin finished eighth in 18:41.09.
Quinn Jacquez placed sixth in the men's 1,500m (3:58.05), followed by Tadiyos Sloan-Westmoreland in eighth (3:58.64, PR), Lance Surles in 13th (4:02.88), Jacoby Ennis in 15th (4:04.23), and Hank Neal in 17th (4:06.31).
Stephen Prior cleared 1.85m to place seventh in the men's high jump and later added an eighth-place finish in the 110m hurdles with a personal-best 15.52.
Janie Coble recorded a season-best 15.77 in the women's 100m hurdles to finish 12th and added a ninth-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best 1:10.93.
Dylan Metcalf represented Asheville in the men's pole vault, finishing seventh after clearing 3.85m.
In the men's shot put, Will Wilkerson placed ninth (13.87m), narrowly ahead of Greg Schell in 10th (13.84m).
Kieayla Williams posted a personal-best 24.65 in the women's 200m to finish fifth and move into No. 3 on Asheville's all-time list. Francesca Cergol added a 10th-place finish in 25.50. Williams also placed ninth in the women's 100m (12.22).
Gabriel Buie recorded a personal-best 22.28 to finish ninth in the men's 200m.
Asheville placed five runners in the top 10 of the men's 100m. Alongside Jordan's victory, Aaron Higgins finished sixth (11.11), Rodney Tabb placed seventh (11.19), Buie took ninth (11.23), and Bryce James rounded out the top 10 in 11.24.
Christina Jones placed 10th in the women's javelin with a throw of 27.26m.
Smydra added a 10th-place finish in the men's long jump (6.45m), while Preston Reed took 10th in the men's discus (43.90m).
Asheville will next compete at the 2026 Big South Outdoor Championships, hosted by High Point University from May 10-12.
