Baseball Falters at North Carolina A&T on Tuesday

GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Asheville Baseball faltered at North Carolina A&T on Tuesday (Apr. 21) by a score of 4-1 in non-conference action.

After a scoreless first inning, North Carolina A&T struck first with two runs in the home half of the second for a 2-0 lead. The teams traded scoreless frames over the next two innings, before the Aggies tacked on one run for a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth. After a scoreless sixth, Asheville would finally scratch across a run in the top of the seventh when Tyler Parks doubled home Eric Krumpe. North Carolina A&T would add its final run in the home half of the seventh, before both pitching staffs would suppress the offenses to bring the game to its final score.

Krumpe, Parks and Logan Lowe each had a hit in the game for the Bulldogs, while Krumpe scored Asheville's lone run and Parks drove the run in. Zeb Swangim also stole a base in the game for the Bulldogs. Ben Green (0-3) took the loss for the Bulldogs on the bump, allowing two runs on five hits through two innings with one walk. Branden Barna shouldered the load in relief allowing two runs, one earned through six solid innings out of the pen with two walks and four strikeouts. The Asheville defense also turned a pair of double plays in the game.
