Bulldogs Run Past Royals for Non-Conference Win on Wednesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis ran past Queens (N.C.) for a 4-1 non-conference win on Wednesday (Apr. 1) at Asheville School.

The Bulldogs took two of three in doubles play for the doubles point, before winning three singles matches to secure the victory. Queens won the first doubles match of the afternoon at No. 3, before Angelina Joy Hug and Sofia Segui knotted up doubles play with a 6-2 win over Lucy Hogan and Zoe Cvitanovic at No. 1. Valeria Centeno and Isabella Moss would clinch the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Daniela Tomala and Jett Coetzee at No. 2.

Hug would blank Hogan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 to start doubles play, before Centeno would dispatch Tomala 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. After the Royals got on the board with a win at No. 3, Maria Sol Alvarez Brandon clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rachel Bryne at No. 5.Â
