After a scoreless first inning, the Bulldogs scored twice in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. The inning began with a one-out double to left by Ben Green, before Owen Michelson drew a walk behind him. With runners on the move, Chase Klingemann would lace a 3-1 pitch into right center to score Green and give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Looking to keep the pressure on offensively with Michelson at third, Coleman McGinnis laid down a safety squeeze to score Michelson and put Asheville up 2-0. Tennessee would tie the game with two runs in the second, before taking the lead for good with three in the third, one in the fourth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh. The Bulldogs would score the final run of the game in the top of the ninth when Michelson drove home Blaize Johnson on a single up the middle after Johnson drew a leadoff walk.

Michelson paced the Bulldogs with two hits in the game, while Green, Klingemann and Jack Torbett each had one hit for Asheville. Johnson, Green and Michelson each scored runs for the Bulldogs in the game, while Michelson, Klingemann and McGinnis each drove in one run. Torbett also stole two bases in the game, while Logan Lowe swiped one bag. Colin Woolard made his Bulldog debut on the bump, allowing two runs on two hits through 1.1 innings before passing the ball to Nic Melton. Melton (0-1) was on the hook for the loss in the game allowing four runs on four hits through 2.1 innings with one walk and one strikeout. Branden Barna was solid in relief from there, allowing just one run on three hits through 1.2 innings before passing the ball to Nick Bruno. Bruno allowed three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings to go along with one walk and three strikeouts, before TJ Brooks finished things off on the mound for Asheville. Brooks allowed one hit and picked up one strikeout in his time on the mound in the bottom of the eighth.
